Amazing yacht rental experience. Ben was great on board, helpful, friendly and on top of everything. Everything went perfect, and the jet skis were superior. Will definitely be back.

Private, dignified memorial services on Biscayne Bay and the open Atlantic. EPA-compliant ash scattering ceremonies for families seeking a meaningful farewell at sea.

AS SEEN IN

SEA MEMORIAL MIAMI
For many families, the ocean represents something beyond its physical presence. It is a place of peace, continuity, and return. A sea memorial places that meaning at the center of the farewell, in a setting that cannot be replicated on land. Miami's waters, from the calm expanse of Biscayne Bay to the open Atlantic beyond Government Cut, provide the space and the dignity that these ceremonies deserve.
Crown Yachts Miami provides private yacht charters for ash scattering ceremonies and sea memorials. The vessel is reserved exclusively for your family. The captain and crew approach the service with the care and quiet attention it requires. The ceremony structure, the timing, the route, and the pace of the day are all coordinated around your family's wishes.
Ash scattering in Florida coastal waters is fully legal and regulated under federal EPA guidelines. We assist families in understanding the requirements, preparing the necessary documentation, and completing the post-ceremony reporting. Every step of the process is handled with discretion and respect.

SERVICE OPTIONS
Every family's circumstances are different. These are the main ceremony formats available for ash scattering and sea memorials in Miami.
A calm, protected service in the sheltered waters of Biscayne Bay. The bay's flat conditions and accessible depth make it the most practical and comfortable choice for families with elderly guests, young children, or accessibility needs. The Miami skyline and the natural beauty of the surrounding bay create a meaningful and peaceful setting. Ash scattering in Biscayne Bay complies with EPA requirements for marine waters.
For families who prefer the symbolism of the open ocean, we depart through Government Cut and travel to offshore Atlantic waters for the ceremony. The EPA requires that cremated remains be scattered at least three nautical miles from shore, and offshore routes meet and exceed this standard. The open horizon and deep blue water provide a setting that honors the traditional concept of a burial at sea.
A sunrise departure carries particular significance for many families. The first light over Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic is quiet, unhurried, and deeply personal. Morning conditions on the water are typically the calmest of the day, which is an important consideration for guests who may not be regular boat travelers. A sunrise memorial concludes by mid-morning, giving families the rest of the day together on land.
Sunset ceremonies draw on the symbolism of a peaceful farewell as the day ends over the water. The golden light of late afternoon on Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline creates a deeply moving backdrop for a final gathering. Sunset memorials are the most requested time slot, and the warm, calm conditions typical of Miami evenings make them suitable for most family groups.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
Each sea memorial charter is coordinated to give your family a complete, supported experience from arrival at the marina to the return to shore.
The yacht is reserved exclusively for your family and guests. No other passengers share the vessel. The captain and crew are present to support the ceremony with discretion and care, maintaining a respectful pace and quiet atmosphere throughout the service.
Our team assists families in coordinating the structure of the service before departure. Readings, prayers, moments of silence, musical selections, and the timing of the scattering can all be planned in advance so the day unfolds without uncertainty. We work around any religious or cultural traditions the family wishes to observe.
Fresh flower petals, biodegradable wreaths, and other ocean-safe tributes can be brought aboard and released at the time of scattering. We advise on which materials are appropriate for release in Florida waters. Non-biodegradable items and plastic packaging must remain on the vessel.
The exact GPS coordinates of the scattering location are recorded and provided to the family following the ceremony. These coordinates are a permanent record that families can return to in future years, and are increasingly requested as a meaningful part of the memorial keepsake.
A photographer can be added to the charter to document the ceremony with sensitivity and discretion. Memorial photographs capture the gathering, the floral tributes, and the setting without intrusion. Families receive edited images delivered privately following the service. Photography is entirely optional and confirmed in advance.
There is no fixed schedule after the ceremony. Families may remain on the water for as long as the charter duration allows. Many families use the remaining time to share stories, sit quietly together, or simply be on the water with their loved one's memory. The crew follows the family's pace rather than directing the timing.

PLANNING GUIDANCE
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates the scattering of cremated remains in US marine waters under the Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act. The key requirements are: ashes must be scattered at least three nautical miles from the nearest shoreline; no non-biodegradable materials may be placed in the water; and the responsible party must notify the EPA regional office within 30 days of the scattering using the designated online reporting form. Crown Yachts Miami can assist families in understanding and meeting these requirements.
Families should bring a certified copy of the death certificate and the cremation certificate or permit issued by the funeral home or crematory. Some families also bring the transit permit if the remains were transported across state lines. Ashes should be in a container that can be opened and poured cleanly, or already in a biodegradable urn if the family plans to place the urn in the water. We recommend contacting us in advance to discuss the specific documentation your circumstances require.
Most of our memorial charter vessels comfortably accommodate groups of 10 to 25 guests. Larger family gatherings can be accommodated on larger vessels. Guests with mobility limitations or who require assistance boarding should let us know in advance so we can select the most suitable vessel and marina access point. We work with each family individually to ensure every guest can be present.
Bring the cremated remains in a secure, closeable container or biodegradable urn. Flower petals and biodegradable wreaths are welcome. Personal items for the ceremony such as photographs, candles, or printed readings can be brought aboard. Dress comfortably for the weather and the open water. Light layers are recommended for morning departures, as Biscayne Bay can be cool before 9am. Non-slip footwear is required on deck.
Most ash scattering charters are two to three hours in duration. The actual ceremony typically takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on the structure the family has chosen. The remaining time is unscheduled and available for the family to use as they wish on the water. We do not rush the departure or the return. If a family wishes to extend the charter, this can be arranged in advance.
Miami's weather is generally favorable for on-water memorials year-round. If unsafe conditions prevent departure, we work with the family to reschedule without additional fees. We do not depart in conditions that would compromise the safety or comfort of the guests, particularly for elderly family members or those unfamiliar with being on the water. Our captain makes the final safety determination on the day.
