Private Yacht Charters from Palmetto Bay

Palmetto Bay is a village on the western shore of Biscayne Bay in southern Miami-Dade County, known locally as the Village of Parks for its exceptional ratio of parkland per resident. The village sits between Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove to the north and Black Point Park and Marina to the south, both approximately 15 to 20 minutes away, giving Palmetto Bay guests genuine access to both the north bay Star Island corridor and the south bay Biscayne National Park corridor. Crown Yachts Miami operates a fleet of over 55 private yachts available for Palmetto Bay departures.

Private yacht charters from Palmetto Bay serve the full range of occasions: birthday celebrations anchored near Star Island and the downtown skyline, bachelorette parties on central Biscayne Bay, corporate client entertainment with the Coconut Grove waterfront as backdrop, reef snorkeling excursions into Biscayne National Park, and sunset bay cruises from the south bay corridor.

Every charter is customizable with private catering, a private chef on board, a DJ, custom yacht decoration, watersports equipment, and VIP transport from your Palmetto Bay address to the marina.

WHY PALMETTO BAY

Why Choose Palmetto Bay for Your Yacht Charter

Palmetto Bay's position between Dinner Key and Black Point Marina gives guests dual access to both the Star Island north bay corridor and the Biscayne National Park south bay corridor, both within 15 to 20 minutes by car.

Village of Parks

Palmetto Bay, the Village of Parks, Has More Parkland per Resident Than Any Other Miami-Dade Municipality

Palmetto Bay is a village in southern Miami-Dade County incorporated in 2002, known locally as the Village of Parks for having more parkland per resident than any other municipality in Miami-Dade. The village sits on the western shore of Biscayne Bay between Cutler Bay to the south and Pinecrest to the north, and is home to the Deering Estate at Cutler, a National Historic Landmark and one of the largest remaining examples of undeveloped coastal land in Miami-Dade. Palmetto Bay residents book private yacht charters for family events, birthday celebrations, corporate outings, and anniversary cruises throughout the year.

Dual Corridor Access

Equidistant Between Dinner Key Marina and Black Point Marina, Giving Access to Both North and South Bay

Palmetto Bay's position in the south bay corridor places it equidistant between Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove to the north and Black Point Park and Marina to the south, both approximately 15 to 20 minutes away via US-1. This dual access is unique among Miami-Dade locations and gives Palmetto Bay guests a genuine choice between two entirely different charter corridors: the north bay route through Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, and up to Star Island and downtown Miami, or the south bay route into Biscayne National Park, Elliott Key, and the Florida Keys reef tract. Few locations in Miami-Dade have practical access to both corridors in a single charter.

Deering Estate

The Deering Estate at Cutler, a National Historic Landmark on the Biscayne Bay Shoreline

The Deering Estate at Cutler sits directly on the Biscayne Bay shoreline within Palmetto Bay and is one of the most historically significant properties on the Florida coast. The estate was purchased by industrialist Charles Deering in 1916 and preserves more than 400 acres of natural Miami-Dade coastal habitat including mangrove shoreline, tropical hardwood hammock, and prehistoric shell midden archaeological sites. The estate's bayfront position, visible by water on charters departing Dinner Key south through Biscayne Bay, is a unique historical landmark that distinguishes Palmetto Bay from all other Miami-Dade charter departure locations.

Old Cutler Road

Old Cutler Road Connects Palmetto Bay to Both Marina Corridors Along a Scenic Bay-Adjacent Route

Old Cutler Road is the historic scenic route through Palmetto Bay, running parallel to Biscayne Bay along the western shoreline through canopied hardwood hammock and some of the oldest residential properties in southern Miami-Dade. The road connects Palmetto Bay directly to Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove to the north and to Black Point Park and Marina to the south without requiring expressway access. For Palmetto Bay residents, Old Cutler Road is the most direct and scenic route to both primary departure marinas and is the signature drive of the south bay residential corridor.

WHERE WE DEPART

Marina Departure Points Near Palmetto Bay

Palmetto Bay has two primary departure marinas: Dinner Key for north bay itineraries and Black Point for south bay and national park itineraries. Both are 15 to 20 minutes away via US-1.

Primary Marina

Dinner Key Marina, Coconut Grove

Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove is the primary departure for Palmetto Bay charters routing north to Star Island, downtown Miami, and the central bay corridor. The marina is 15 to 20 minutes from Palmetto Bay via US-1 north, and is the largest marina in Miami with full-service facilities and adjacent parking. From Dinner Key, Palmetto Bay charters have direct access to the Coconut Grove waterfront, Key Biscayne and Nixon Sandbar via the south channel, and the full north bay circuit to Star Island and the Venetian Islands.

South Bay

Black Point Park and Marina, South Miami-Dade

Black Point Park and Marina is the primary departure for Palmetto Bay charters routing south into Biscayne National Park. The marina is 15 to 20 minutes from Palmetto Bay via US-1 south and sits at the southwestern edge of the national park, giving immediate access to Elliott Key, Adams Key, Boca Chita Key, and the Florida Keys reef tract. For Palmetto Bay guests whose itinerary focuses on snorkeling, the barrier islands, or a combined national park and north bay full-day charter, Black Point is the southern anchor of the Palmetto Bay dual-corridor route.

Key Biscayne

Crandon Park Marina, Key Biscayne

Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne is 20 to 25 minutes from Palmetto Bay via US-1 north and the Rickenbacker Causeway. The marina is surrounded by Crandon Park and provides the most direct access to Nixon Sandbar and the Key Biscayne channel. For Palmetto Bay charters focused on the sandbar and Key Biscayne rather than the full north or south bay corridors, Crandon Park Marina is the most targeted departure point. The Crandon Park position is also equidistant between the national park and Star Island.

Coconut Grove

Bayshore Landing, Coconut Grove

Bayshore Landing in Coconut Grove is 15 to 20 minutes from Palmetto Bay via US-1 north and provides an alternative Coconut Grove waterfront departure adjacent to Monty's Restaurant and Miami City Hall. The marina gives direct bay access south toward Key Biscayne and north toward the Coconut Grove anchorage and Star Island channel. For Palmetto Bay groups whose evening itinerary ends at a Coconut Grove restaurant or venue, Bayshore Landing is the most convenient boarding and return marina.

Charter Routes and Views from Palmetto Bay

Palmetto Bay charters cover Star Island, Nixon Sandbar, the Coconut Grove waterfront, Biscayne National Park, the Florida Keys reef tract, and the downtown Miami and Brickell skyline.

Most Popular

Star Island and the Celebrity Island Chain

Star Island, Palm Island, and Hibiscus Island in central Biscayne Bay are 30 to 40 minutes north from Dinner Key Marina, making them accessible on a standard Palmetto Bay charter. The celebrity island circuit, passing the private estates of Star Island and the residential waterfront of Palm and Hibiscus Islands, is the most requested route on Palmetto Bay north bay charters. Departing Dinner Key north through the Coconut Grove waterfront and into central Biscayne Bay gives Palmetto Bay guests the same Star Island access available from downtown Miami marinas.

Sandbar

Nixon Sandbar and the Key Biscayne Channel

Nixon Sandbar, the most popular shallow-water anchorage in Miami Bay, is under 20 minutes from Dinner Key Marina via the Coconut Grove waterfront south and the Key Biscayne channel west. The sandbar's position at the intersection of the Key Biscayne channel and open Biscayne Bay makes it accessible from both Dinner Key to the north and Black Point to the south on the same Palmetto Bay charter route. Saturday and Sunday morning Palmetto Bay charters departing Dinner Key at 10am reach Nixon Sandbar before the weekend bay crowds build.

National Park

Biscayne National Park and the Barrier Islands

Biscayne National Park's barrier island chain — Elliott Key, Adams Key, and Boca Chita Key — is accessible from Palmetto Bay via a Black Point Marina departure, 15 to 20 minutes south. Full-day Palmetto Bay charters covering both the national park in the morning and Star Island in the afternoon represent the most complete two-corridor itinerary available from any south Miami-Dade location. The Boca Chita Key lighthouse and Elliott Key western anchorage are the most visited park stops on Palmetto Bay full-day charters.

Skyline

Downtown Miami and Brickell Skyline from the Bay

The downtown Miami and Brickell skylines are 35 to 45 minutes north of Dinner Key Marina on the open bay, passing Star Island and Brickell Key on the approach. Evening Palmetto Bay charters anchoring in the bay south of Brickell Key at golden hour, with the downtown and Brickell skylines reflecting on the water, are the most requested format for birthday and anniversary celebrations departing from the south bay. The south-to-north approach to the skyline from the Coconut Grove corridor gives a different visual perspective than the approach from Watson Island or the Venetian Causeway.

Reef and Ocean

Florida Keys Reef Tract and the Atlantic Ocean

The northern Florida Keys reef system is accessible from Palmetto Bay via a Black Point Marina departure south through the national park and east through the barrier island chain. The reef tract east of Biscayne National Park's islands holds the northernmost section of the Florida Keys coral reef and is under 35 to 40 minutes from Black Point at reef-transit speed. For Palmetto Bay guests whose charter focuses on snorkeling and diving, Black Point is the correct departure, and gear rental is available as an add-on.

Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove Waterfront and Biscayne Bay Anchorage

The Coconut Grove waterfront, extending from Dinner Key Marina south to the Coconut Grove sailing club and historic City Hall waterfront, is a distinctive anchorage unique to the south bay corridor. Palmetto Bay charters departing Dinner Key can anchor in the protected Coconut Grove bay position before heading north or south, using the Grove waterfront as a first or last stop. The mangrove fringe and historic bayfront architecture visible from the Coconut Grove anchorage are not present on any north bay charter route.

WHAT TO KNOW

Planning Your Palmetto Bay Yacht Charter

01

Getting to the Marina from Palmetto Bay

Palmetto Bay has two primary marina routes. Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove is 15 to 20 minutes north via US-1 north and South Bayshore Drive. Black Point Park and Marina is 15 to 20 minutes south via US-1 south to SW 87th Avenue. Old Cutler Road, the scenic coastal route, connects to both marinas and is the most direct non-expressway route from central Palmetto Bay. Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne is 20 to 25 minutes north via US-1 and the Rickenbacker Causeway. We recommend arriving 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

02

Parking at Palmetto Bay Departure Marinas

Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove has parking adjacent to the marina with overflow options at nearby city parking. Bayshore Landing in Coconut Grove has covered parking one block from the dock. Black Point Park and Marina has a large free parking lot and is the most parking-accessible marina in southern Miami-Dade. Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne has paid parking within the park. For Palmetto Bay groups arriving in multiple vehicles, Black Point is the easiest parking of any departure marina in the south bay corridor.

03

Best Time of Day for a Palmetto Bay Charter

Morning charters departing Dinner Key between 9am and 11am reach Nixon Sandbar and Key Biscayne before the weekend bay traffic builds. Afternoon charters from 1pm to 4pm on the central bay cover Star Island and the Coconut Grove waterfront at their most active. Evening charters departing Dinner Key between 5pm and 7pm reach Star Island at golden hour, with the downtown and Brickell skylines most photogenic as the sun sets behind the city. South bay morning charters from Black Point toward Biscayne National Park are best before 11am when the wind is calmest.

04

Charter Duration from Palmetto Bay

Most Palmetto Bay charters run 3 to 5 hours. A 3-hour charter from Dinner Key covers Nixon Sandbar, the Coconut Grove waterfront, and a Star Island pass. A 4-hour charter adds a downtown skyline anchorage or a longer Key Biscayne circuit. A 5 to 6 hour full-day charter from Palmetto Bay covering Biscayne National Park in the morning from Black Point and Star Island in the afternoon from Dinner Key is the most complete dual-corridor itinerary available from any south Miami-Dade location. Birthday and bachelorette groups typically book 4-hour minimums.

05

Group Size and Vessel Selection

Private yacht charters from Palmetto Bay accommodate groups from 2 to 13 guests on standard vessels. Palmetto Bay has a mix of family celebration groups, birthday and anniversary charters, and corporate entertainment bookings. Motor yachts in the 45 to 75 foot range suit most Palmetto Bay group sizes. Larger sport yachts in the 65 to 105 foot range are available for parties and corporate events requiring more deck space. Contact us for configurations above 13 guests.

It was our first time exploring Miami by yacht and it was one of the best experiences we've had. The crew took great care of us the entire time. They were super friendly and patient. We stopped at multiple spots to take photos and the captain was more than happy to adjust the route whenever we wanted. Marinda also helped capture so many great moments for us, which made the whole experience even better. We will absolutely be returning!

We rented the 66ft Azimut during our trip to Miami and it was honestly one of the best days of our vacation. Everything was smooth from the start. We ordered food and drinks ahead of time, and when we arrived, everything was already set up on the yacht and super fresh. The drinks were already chilled in the ice box, which was perfect. We had an amazing time out on the water, everything was exactly how we hoped it would be. Definitely recommend Crown Yachts Miami if you're trying to have a fun day out with friends. Would 100% book again!
