MIAMI GROUP BOAT RENTALS

Group Yacht Rentals Miami, 13 to 50 Guests on the Water

Crown Yachts Miami runs two formats for groups larger than 13 guests. The first is the dual-yacht format: two premium private yachts from our fleet of over 55 vessels departing from the same marina at the same time, traveling in convoy, and anchoring side by side at Haulover Sandbar or your chosen destination. The second is a commercial charter vessel on request, for groups requiring a single vessel for 13 or more passengers on board.

Under USCG regulations, recreational charter vessels are limited to 13 guests on board regardless of vessel size. The dual-yacht format is the solution most large groups choose: two premium private yachts, one group, one day on the water together. Both captains communicate continuously so the group travels and anchors as one unit throughout the day.

A DJ, open bar, full catering, and watersports equipment are all coordinated across every vessel before departure. Groups celebrating a large birthday, corporate outing, or bachelorette group charter board vessels that are fully stocked and ready. Departures from Miami Beach, Brickell, and Coconut Grove.

HOW IT WORKS

How a Miami Group Yacht Charter Actually Works

Group charters have different rules than standard private yacht bookings. Here is exactly how the USCG limit works, what options you have, and how Crown Yachts Miami handles a group of 13 to 50 from first inquiry to the final dock approach.

THE 13-GUEST LIMIT EXPLAINED

USCG Recreational Vessel Limit: Max 13 Guests Per Yacht

Under USCG regulations, recreational charter vessels are limited to 13 guests on board regardless of vessel size. A 116-foot superyacht and a 40-foot speedboat carry the same 13-guest recreational charter limit. For groups needing more than 13 guests on a single vessel, a USCG-certified commercial vessel is required. Crown Yachts Miami offers two solutions: the dual-yacht format and commercial charter vessels on request.

DUAL-YACHT FORMAT

Two Private Yachts, One Group, One Day Together

The most popular large group format at Crown Yachts Miami. Two private yachts from the full fleet depart from the same dock, travel together in convoy with captains in continuous radio contact, and anchor side by side at Haulover Sandbar or your chosen destination. Groups of 14 to 26 guests split across both vessels for the transit and spend the anchor stop wading and swimming freely between decks. Every add-on runs simultaneously on both vessels.

COMMERCIAL VESSEL OPTION

Single-Vessel Capacity for Larger Groups on Request

For groups who prefer a single vessel for 14 or more guests, Crown Yachts Miami operates USCG-certified commercial charter vessels available on request. These vessels carry full commercial crew, all required safety certifications, and accommodate larger single-vessel capacities. Bar service and catering, a DJ, and all standard add-ons are available. Contact us with your group size and we match you to the right vessel and format.

COMPLETELY PRIVATE

Every Vessel Reserved Exclusively for Your Group

Every Crown Yachts Miami group charter is fully private. No shared passengers, no group tour format, no other guests on board. For dual-yacht charters, each vessel is exclusively reserved for your group's sub-party for the full duration. Your group boards, the yachts depart, and every detail of the day belongs entirely to you.

ALL ADD-ONS PRE-LOADED

Bar, Catering, and DJ Ready Before the Group Boards

The open bar package, full catering service, and private DJ are coordinated and pre-loaded on every vessel before the group arrives at the marina. Bar service and music run simultaneously on all vessels from departure to dock. The group organizer boards and enjoys the day. Crown Yachts Miami handles all coordination across both vessels from booking to dock.

CAPTAINS IN SYNC

Full Coordination Across Every Vessel All Day

For dual-yacht charters, both USCG-licensed captains communicate by radio throughout the charter and coordinate all transits, speed, and anchor stops together. Both vessels depart at the same time, travel at matching speed with the same routing, and anchor side by side. The full group stays synchronized from departure to dock. You deal with one contact. The captains handle the rest.

DEPARTURE POINTS

For dual-yacht charters, both vessels board and depart from the same marina dock. Marinas across Miami Beach, downtown Miami, Coconut Grove, and Key Biscayne.

BOOKING PROCESS

How to Book a Group Yacht Charter in Miami Step by Step

01

Share Your Group Size, Date, and Occasion

Contact us with your total guest count, preferred date, and event type. We confirm whether a commercial vessel, dual-yacht departure, or multi-vessel convoy is the right format within hours. Large group dates fill well in advance, particularly on peak weekends and during Miami high season.

02

Choose Your Format: Dual-Yacht or Commercial Vessel

We present the available options for your group size. Groups of 14 to 26 typically choose the dual-yacht format for the premium private yacht experience. Groups needing a single vessel for 13 or more guests opt for a commercial vessel. We walk through the practical differences and help you choose.

03

Select the Vessels and Departure Marina

For dual-yacht charters, we recommend two vessels from the fleet matched to your group's size and event style. You review full specifications of both vessels before confirming. We assign the departure marina closest to where your group is staying, with both vessels boarding from the same dock.

04

Coordinate Add-Ons Across All Vessels

Open bar, catering, a DJ on each vessel, a private chef, custom decoration, and watersports are all coordinated and pre-loaded on every vessel before departure. The group organizer boards vessels that are fully stocked and ready. No day-of logistics.

05

Confirm with a Deposit

Secure all vessels and the date with a single deposit. You receive a full confirmation with marina addresses, boarding times, captain contacts for each vessel, and a complete breakdown of everything included and pre-loaded. All add-ons confirmed in the same document.

06

Board Together, Stay Together All Day

Both vessels board from the same marina dock and depart at the same time. The captains communicate continuously to keep the full group together at every transit and anchor stop. At the sandbar, both vessels anchor within swimming distance. The group travels and spends the day as one, split across two decks.

WHERE YOU CAN GO

Top Destinations for Miami Group Yacht Charters

Both vessels travel the same route and anchor at the same destination. Your captains coordinate all stops so the full group stays together from departure to return.

Select a destination to see where it is

Haulover Sandbar

Most Requested

Haulover Sandbar is Miami's most popular group charter anchor destination. The shallow, knee-deep turquoise water accommodates multiple vessels anchored side by side. For dual-yacht group charters, both vessels anchor close enough for guests to wade and swim freely between decks. Bar service, music, and catered lunch at anchor are standard for full-day group events here.

Nixon Sandbar off Key Biscayne is the quieter, less crowded alternative to Haulover for group charters preferring a calmer anchor environment. Protected, clear, shallow water with enough space for two vessels to anchor comfortably side by side. Accessible from Coconut Grove and Brickell marinas in under 20 minutes.

Star Island is the most photogenic transit stop on any Miami group charter. Both vessels slow to cruise speed along the Star Island waterfront, passing the celebrity estate waterfront at close range. The visual of two large yachts moving side by side through the Star Island channel makes for the strongest group photography of the day.

Government Cut is the main shipping channel into PortMiami. A dual-yacht convoy passing through Government Cut at cruise ship departure time is one of the most dramatic transit experiences on any Miami group charter. Both vessels position near the channel while cruise ships operating at 10 to 20 times the length of the yachts transit past. Fisher Island sits at the southern mouth of the channel.

The Venetian Islands chain provides a scenic intracoastal transit corridor connecting Miami Beach and the bay. Both vessels transit through the narrow Venetian Islands channel together, offering close views of the waterfront estate district and the downtown Miami skyline. A standard inclusion on group charter routes from Miami Beach and North Bay marinas.

Key Biscayne offers protected, clear anchorages suitable for multi-vessel group charters. The western shore anchorages have enough depth and space for two vessels to anchor comfortably alongside each other with watersports deployed from both. Popular for group charters from Coconut Grove and Brickell seeking a calmer, more remote anchor environment.

The South Beach Art Deco hotel district is one of the most visually distinctive waterfronts in the world from a yacht. A dual-yacht group convoy along this stretch produces consistently strong group photography. The Miami skyline at golden hour from open water is the highlight of any evening group sunset cruise from South Beach marinas.

Open Biscayne Bay provides the most unrestricted panoramic views of the Miami skyline from the water. Two vessels anchored side by side in open water on a clear afternoon, with the full downtown skyline, Brickell, and the Art Deco district visible from every deck position, is the defining mid-bay moment on any Miami group yacht charter.

Elliott Key is the largest island in Biscayne National Park and the most remote full-day group charter destination within day range from Miami. The western anchorage has clear, calm water for swimming and snorkeling with multiple vessels anchored together. Available on full-day group charters from Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, and South Bay marinas.

It was our first time exploring Miami by yacht and it was one of the best experiences we've had. The crew took great care of us the entire time. They were super friendly and patient. We stopped at multiple spots to take photos and the captain was more than happy to adjust the route whenever we wanted. Marinda also helped capture so many great moments for us, which made the whole experience even better. We will absolutely be returning!

We rented the 66ft Azimut during our trip to Miami and it was honestly one of the best days of our vacation. Everything was smooth from the start. We ordered food and drinks ahead of time, and when we arrived, everything was already set up on the yacht and super fresh. The drinks were already chilled in the ice box, which was perfect. We had an amazing time out on the water, everything was exactly how we hoped it would be. Definitely recommend Crown Yachts Miami if you're trying to have a fun day out with friends. Would 100% book again!

FAQ

Group Yacht Charter Miami FAQ

How many guests can join a group yacht charter in Miami?
USCG regulations limit recreational charter vessels to 13 guests per vessel regardless of size. Crown Yachts Miami accommodates larger groups through two options: the dual-yacht format where two private yachts depart and travel together for groups of 14 to 26, and commercial charter vessels on request for larger single-vessel capacities.
Why are most yachts limited to 13 guests?
Under USCG regulations, recreational charter vessels are limited to 13 guests on board regardless of vessel size. A 116-foot superyacht and a 40-foot speedboat carry the same 13-guest recreational charter limit. For more than 13 guests on a single vessel, a USCG-certified commercial vessel is required.
What is the dual-yacht charter format for large groups?
Two private yachts from the Crown Yachts Miami fleet depart from the same marina at the same time, travel in convoy, and anchor side by side at the sandbar or bay destination. The group splits across both vessels for the transit but wades and swims freely between decks at anchor. Bar service, catering, and DJ entertainment run simultaneously on both vessels throughout the day.
What is included in a group yacht charter in Miami?
Every Crown Yachts Miami group charter includes USCG-licensed captains and professional crew on every vessel, fuel, ice, water, and all required safety equipment. Optional add-ons including a DJ, open bar and full catering, a private chef, watersports equipment, custom decoration, and VIP ground transport are all available and pre-loaded on every vessel before departure.
Can we do a group sunset cruise in Miami?
Yes. A group sunset cruise in Miami is one of the most popular dual-yacht group charter formats. Both vessels depart in the late afternoon, transit open Biscayne Bay with the Miami skyline at golden hour, anchor side by side for the sunset, and return after dark. DJ and open bar run on both vessels throughout. Available as a 3 or 4-hour evening charter from marinas across Miami Beach and downtown Miami.
What is the difference between a commercial vessel and a private yacht for groups?
A private yacht charter accommodates up to 13 guests on board. For groups needing more than 13 guests on a single vessel, USCG regulations require a commercially certified vessel. Crown Yachts Miami operates commercial charter vessels on request for these group sizes. The dual-yacht option is available for groups who prefer two premium private yachts from the standard fleet rather than a single commercial vessel.
What types of events are best suited to a group boat rental in Miami?
Group yacht charters in Miami work well for large birthday parties, bachelorette and bachelor group events, corporate team outings and client entertainment, company incentive retreats, family reunions, and large milestone celebrations. The dual-yacht format is particularly popular for events where sub-groups within the larger party want their own deck space while sharing the day together. Chartering in Broward County? See our Fort Lauderdale group yacht charter.
How far in advance should I book a group yacht charter in Miami?
Group charters requiring two or more vessels should be booked 3 to 6 weeks in advance. Peak season from December through April and major event weekends including New Year's, Art Basel, and Spring Break fill quickly for multi-vessel bookings. Corporate group charters tied to specific conference dates should be secured as early as possible.
